I'm a professor of visual culture in the Department of Art and Media Studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheimn Norway.
I was educated in the UK, where I studied photography and multimedia at BA level, before obtaining an MA and a PhD in the history of art at Birkbeck, University of London.
As a media scholar I study the systems, technologies, infrastructures, and workers that have shaped visual media culture since the 1800s.
As a university employee I strive to make academia a place of greater solidarity and less competitiveness.
